Duplicati Portable refers to running the Duplicati open-source backup client without installing it permanently to your operating system registry. This allows you to carry your backup software and its configuration settings entirely on a USB flash drive or external hard drive. How Portable Mode Works
Instead of using a standard platform installer, you download the generic zip archive from the Duplicati Download Page. The defining mechanism of the portable version is the –portable-mode command-line switch.
Local Database Storage: By default, Duplicati saves its operational settings, backup configurations, and local index databases to the user’s system profile directory (e.g., ~/.config/Duplicati on Linux or %APPDATA% on Windows).
